hongkong '08 (11/12 - 15/12)
,,,it wasn't anywhere close to what I thought it would be like :( okay the place deserve a higher rating, if not for some autocracy that runs throughout the trip.
.......
i've decided to be a lazybumbumbumbum as usual and just post pictures (:
Day one
reached the airport @ 7 plus and it was far too early! thanks to my mummy kiasuism haha. So we roamed around the airport like 4 tourists who've first set foot in singapore.

& all other pictures inside the departure hall
...
and finally it's time to board the plane! we're seriously running out of place to rot while waiting for time to pass.
...
was mesmerised by the fluffy clouds! & guess what, all the way till i think p5, i still thought one could stand on clouds! can't blame me k! they just look so inviting.

You get bored! haha, and obviously that's what happened to me. So i've decided to spare some attention to sth that i sneaked out of my house.
...
& my very insane sissy insist to take one more and insist that hers is more artistic cause of the additional brown strip there. You decide if it is artistic!
...
on the bus to the hotel.. we saw this really high density housing! & realised that it is the same for all all all the houses there. cramp and high storeys
at the hotel lobby
Looks nice right! but totally not. where else on earth can you find a hotel located in the middle of an industrial park!
......
our right : a metal making industry
our left : some random industries
our front : a rubbish dump!
......
no idea what's behind of us. not too keen on finding out though haha.
...,,,
I shall do some complaining here since we're at it.
the tour agency quite screw things up.
1) change our aeroplane to a much smaller one
2) change our hotel from a well located 4 star hotel ($170+/night) to an ulu 3 star one ($100+/night) for a china tour & we've t pay the same price
3) they didn't check our passports early then we only realised my sis passport had expired 2 days before the trip. fortunately the ICA's willing to extend the date for her.
....
OK enough of bad things! back to the trip (:
...
our first moments in the hotel room:
Some yumyums
the desserts are really yummy, not like those typical dessert in sg where u see ice more than u can see the toppings. just can't resist eating them despite the super cold weather!
went out all the way till midnight. goodness i could feel my toes falling off...
....
day two @ macau
morning call at 6am. that means 3 hours of sleep for me :( was the least enthusiastic member about the trip cause i have 0 interest in the casinos but i ended up being the craziest one there!
Our 1st destination was a "ma zu" temple.
...
we made 2 major killings but eventually lost them all. haha! but it's worth exchanging some dollars for some excitement.
...
the casinos that the 4 gamblers visited that day:
& the very famous beautiful venetian hotel!
headed back to hongkong @ bout 7+. The return journey was crazy!! cause the sea's choppy and I was sea sick. I don't know how that works but sour plums really save my day! Shopped around and reached hotel @ 12+am. Another toebreaking day.. but slightly more satisfying than the 1st day.
...
...
day three @ shenzhen
We opted for a free and easy package for our trip to hong kong this time, meaning that the tour agency's only in charge of picking us up @ hong kong airport and sending us back. A "free" shenzhen trip was included in the package so we went ahead with it and guess what, we ended up spending most on that day w/o buying anything! read on......
morning call's @ 5plus (another 3hr sleep!) and met up with the other tour mates from other hotels @ 7+. trained to shenzhen..
...
@ the lotus park that we were only allowed 5 minutes in cause the tour guide wanna bring us to those commercial areas that can fetch her some commission.
@ the window of the world. We didn't go in cause it'll bomb your pockets!
///
//
headed for dongmen (shopping haven in shenzhen) but it was so disappointing! all the winter wear just like hong kong. so we ended up buying nothing at all.
....
then had dinner @ a seafood centre the tour guide strongly recommended that cost us ren ming bi (rmb) 120/person and there was nth more than some 'malnourished underweight' prawns (or shrimps could be a better name!) /lala with more shells than meat etc. got fleeced by the tour guide who obviously get to earn some commission there.
...
and at the end of the tour , we had to pay a mandatory tour fee. It was stated clearly HK 50 so we did not change any rmb but the tour guide insisted that we pay rmb cause it is now bigger than hk money! so we had to change money with her (there's no money changer in shenzhen) and she lied about the exchange rate!
...
okay la the tour guide isn't all that bad. She's quite knowledgeable, friendly and hospitable, just too dishonest.
...
so the takeaway from this trip is perhaps a new friend made, some knowledge about shenzhen (it's as developed as singapore& it's only 28 years old! i always thought it was backward) and... never to sign up for these 'free' trips anymore.
........
reached hotel at 1+ am. Toes officially gone!!
.
day four
day four was in hong kong. morning call's at 7+ (finally!) and i guess that's why it was a better day cause everyone was less grouchy and touchy with enough rest.
went to "lai chi kor" where there's a wholesale centre selling clothes cheaply but it was closed on sundays! plus there's only winter wear only. so the disappointed 4 (okay actually 3, my papa is totally bored from our shoppings!) went to causeway bay.
......
then headed to tsim sha tsui for espirit warehouse sale then to avenue of stars (light performance by some buildings). the performance also fall short of our expectation :(
the night view @ the avenue of stars (xing guang da dao) pretty pretty (:
...
a girl's favourite moments are always spent with a camera! the following feature totally nothing about hong kong.
& my sissy sissy.
what do you have when you see mirrors.. snap snap.
best day of the trip! (: even my toes are happy!
day five
last day in hong kong. wore my dress back cause i wanna be comfy on the plane but the weather is super cold!! so i was vibrating (not just shivering!) each time the wind comes. I had to stop walking to reduce the resistance that makes me colder!
....
outside the ulu hotel. kowloon hotel is a real good and well located hotel whereas ours, dorsett kowloon hotel is in the middle of nowhere! so my papa has decided to just lie to ourselves and snap the following!
then my mummy insisted that her previous outfits do not look as though she's been to a cold country so we had some exclusive photo shoots in the hotel just for her haha.
supermama model of year 2008:
& to make the country looks colder:
checked out and went for dim sum then last minute shopping at mong kok. Somehow shopping always always and still always is the most productive on the last day when we have limited time! My sis got many many pieces cause they are really cheap when converted back to sg dollars haha.
then it's dessert time once again! in another shop.
went to get the almond cookies for friends/relatives/colleagues then it's about time to head for the airport.
one more thing about hong kong: Taxi fees is real cheap& mrt fees is seriously expensive!
This is the map of hong kong mrt network.

It cost our whole family hk 46 (approx $10.50) to travel from tsim sha tsui to causeway bay (5 stations) whereas it cost our family about $5-8 on taxi.
okay that's it for the luo suo post! (:
